すべておぼえる

2021年に開催された芸術祭「東京ビエンナーレ2020/2021」で発表。
1年間の延期を経て、日比谷公園内に点在する解説パネルや看板をもとに制作した。
以下は会場で発表した作品にまつわるテキスト。

本展では日比谷公園内にあるモニュメントや植物、公園の歴史解説や利用案内といった、園内にある＜看板＞をはじめとした言葉をできる限りすべて集め、それらを素材にした作品を発表した。1903年（明治36）年に日本初の西洋風公園として開園した日比谷公園。その＜看板＞の言葉からは、都民の憩いの場として親しまれたこと、そして日本近代化の歩みを読み取ることができる。

公園という公共性の高い場所に残された言葉を集めると、一方で残されていない言葉の存在にも気付かされる。その一例が「陳列場」である。かつて園内にあった都営の「日比谷画廊」と統合した（と、私たちが推測した）この場所は、河原温が《物置小屋の中の出来事》シリーズを発表した個展の開催場所であり、ネオ・ダダイズム・オルガナイザーズが最後に発表した場所である。日比谷公園は戦後日本の前衛美術における重要な発信地でもあったものの、このような記述は園内には一切残っていない。

「すべておぼえる」は、この限られた言葉をもとにした作品を図書館の一角で開催された展覧会である。すべておぼえる、ということの（不）可能性に焦点を当て、下記の３作品を展示した。

In this exhibition Learn everything, we exhibited three works based on all of the words found in Hibiya Park, including those found on the park’s signboards, such as those used to describe monuments, plants, the park’s history, and information on its use. From the words on its “signboard,” we can read about its popularity as a place of relaxation and recreation for the people of Tokyo and the progress of Japan’s modernization.

　When we collect words that have been preserved in a highly public place such as a park, we also notice the existence of words that have not been preserved. One example is “display space. This place, which we guessed was merged with the metropolitan “Hibiya Gallery” that used to be located in the park, was the site of On Kawahara’s solo exhibition of his “Incidents in a Storage Shed” series and the last place where the Neo-Dadaist Organizers presented their work. Although Hibiya Park was also an important center of postwar Japanese avant-garde art, no such mention of the park remains.

　Learn eveything is an exhibition of works based on these limited words, held in one of the library’s corners. Focusing on the (un)possibility of “remembering everything,” the following three works were exhibited.

私家版　日比谷公園の歴史
History of Hibiya Park (self-published)

書籍用紙・上質紙にインクジェット印刷、書画カメラ
園内にある＜看板＞の言葉から年代がわかる記述を抽出し、年代順に並べ直して編纂した書籍。320ページの歴史が、個人の思い出、園内の出来事、植物の渡来など、すべて同じフォーマットで並ぶ。ページをめくることで、地理も規模も異なる出来事がリニアに展開される。会期中は佐藤または原口がページをめくり、書画カメラを用いてその手元をスクリーンに投影した。

リングカードにペン544点、HDビデオクリップ544点（合計12時間9分15秒）をランダム再生
園内にある＜看板＞をはじめとした言葉をリングカードに書き写している様子を撮影し、カードごとにカットした映像クリップがランダムに再生される。リングから取り外されたカードは、来場者が自由に持ち帰ることができる。
